If you are in the Newark Road area of Lincoln then make sure you pay a visit to the Bridge Community Venue for a lovely little soft play area, great value food at their café and bargains galore at their charity shop.

The church-run venue has recently been honoured by Comic Relief bosses for its hard work. The venue now has a Comic Relief red plaque proudly on display to mark its involvement with the international charity.

The Bridge is run by manager Zoe Homfray-Cooper who moved to the city with her church leader and trustee husband Trveor in 2013. The mum of two says “ I am passionate about reaching out to our community. We have a great team of volunteers helping at the Bridge. They man the shop and café, along with the soft play area for children. Our church offices are also upstairs at the Bridge”.

Open from 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday, the centre runs a number of projects, including a food bank. It provides free food parcels to individuals or families who are in need.

The base now supports a plaque because of the £30,000 grant it received in 2013 from Comic Relief to help with its programmes. They are using the grant to train volunteers from the area to help vulnerable members of the community.
