Follow the Lincoln Knights’ Trail – 36 sculptures across Lincoln city centre – to celebrate the 800th anniversary of the Battle of Lincoln and the sealing of the Charter of the Forest.

Making a very special and rare appearance at Lincoln Castle is perhaps the most remarkable medieval document ever written and preserved – King William the Conquerors Great Survey – Domesday. Often referred to as the Domesday Book, this document records the state of the nation in the late 11th Century and is the earliest surviving domestic record in The National Archive. Domesday makes its appearance in the David P J Ross Magna Carta Vault at the Castle alongside the iconic documents – Charter of the Forest 1217 and Magna Carta 1215.

  • Lincoln Cornhill – The ‘Show comes to town

Join the organisers of the Lincolnshire Show in City Square for a sneak peek at what this year’s event has to offer. Tractors, local produce, and farm animals will be setting up in the city to give shoppers the chance to experience some of the exciting attractions that are on offer at The Lincolnshire Show. There will also be the chance to get involved in interactive activities, sit on a tractor, and meet farmyard friends.

Marking the 800th anniversary of the 1217 Battle of Lincoln, see one of England’s most important battles at Lincoln Castle over the Bank Holiday Weekend.

Experience the 1217 Battle of Lincoln Fair at Lincoln Castle as Nichola de la Haye and Sir William Marshal defend the castle against the forces of Prince Louis of France and the rebellious English Barons.

Throughout each day, the 1217 Battle of Lincoln will be played out through a series of vignettes with a cast of over 100 armoured soldiers, both French and English.

A supporting cast of Garrison soldiers from archers to men-at-arms and mounted Knights will bring to life the scenes of medieval combat and conflict.

  • Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Visitor Centre, Dogdyke Rd, Coningsby, Lincoln LN4 4SY

The RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Visitor Centre will open especially for Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday at the end of May.

Normally closed on weekends due to RAF commitments, the BBMF Visitor Centre will be open and offering hangar tours for two days over the Bank Holiday weekend.

BBMF exists to commemorate the past of the RAF’s Air Combat Power and a visit to the base will allow you to see the Flight’s historic aircraft at close quarters and to observe the BBMF technicians working to maintain them in airworthy condition.

Tours of the hangar last approximately one to one and half hours and within the hangar, you may see: Lancaster PA474, Douglas Dakota ZA947, six Spitfires, two Hurricanes, and two Chipmunks (not all aircraft are guaranteed to be present due to maintenance or displays).

Bobbie, Peter and Phyllis move with their mother from London to ‘The Three Chimneys’, a house near the railway in Yorkshire, after their father, who works at the Foreign Office, is imprisoned after being falsely accused of spying. They befriend an old gentleman who regularly takes the 9:15 train near their home. The children take care of a Russian exile, Mr Szczepansky, who is looking for his family and Jim, the grandson of the old gentleman.

This new production captures all the excitement and emotion of Edith Nesbit’s subtle critique of the English class system and aims to bring the delights of this literary classic to yet another generation.

Michelle Magorian’s heart-warming story Goodnight Mister Tom is brought gloriously to life in this stage adaptation by David Wood – the UK’s ‘National Children’s Dramatist’ [The Times].

Set during the dark and dangerous build-up to the Second World War, Goodnight Mister Tom follows young William Beech as he is evacuated from London to the idyllic English countryside, where he builds a remarkable and moving friendship with elderly recluse, Tom Oakley.

All seems perfect until William is devastatingly summoned by his mother back to London.

A moving tale of two broken souls, healed through a friendship which knows no barriers.

A great day out for the whole family, highlights of the event include; equine demonstrations and resident parades, falconry, shopping, the kids zone, craft activities, a second hand rug and tack sale and a delicious selection of food.

With more than 350 horses, ponies and donkeys to care for, the Summer Fayre is an important fundraiser for the charity and also a chance for Bransby Horses to thank their supporters and to welcome new ones.

Donations are gratefully received on entry and all funds raised go towards the welfare work to help care for, rehabilitate and rehome the horses, donkeys and mules that have been rescued.
