It’s half term already and with Halloween too, Lincoln is jam packed full of things to do these holidays. Here’s your Lincoln Mums guide to the highlights…


Saturday 22nd October

Lincoln’s Sausage Festival

Each October the Lincoln Sausage Festival celebrates the county’s most iconic export – with visitors tucking into more than 30,000 individual sausages on the day. With free entry for children, just £1 for adults and a picturesque setting of cobbled streets and dramatic castle, it’s no surprise that this festival is one of the region’s top foodie events. As well as the best Lincolnshire produce from award winning Select Lincolnshire members, there will also be children’s entertainment, live entertainment and cookery demonstrations. Sci-Con, The Collection

10am to 4pm.

Free but charges for some activities.

The Collection will be hosting a new Science Fiction Mini-Convention. The event will include the following activities and appearances:Crafts – Galaxy in a Jar, Foam Light Saber, Star Wars Clay Painting, Paper Plate BB8, TARDIS and Dalek, R2D2, Cut Out Masks, Face Painting and Free Colouring Sheets

Appearances – Lord of the Sith: Darth Vader, Cybermen, Daleks, Halo ODST Trooper, Darth Revan, Battlestar Galactica Display and more

The Saber Training Academy – Enrol your children both young and old to learn the skills of the Jedi and the Sith. Three classes are available but places are limited so please book in advance to avoid disappointment.

Halloween Hunt, Gainsborough Old Hall

Running until 31 October, visitors can join the Halloween Hunt throughout the Hall, with prizes awaiting the souls brave enough to take part. Entry is free for every child in costume when accompanied by a paying adult.

Spooky Prison

Lincoln Castle’s Victorian Prison will come to life with tales from the past this Halloween.Enter if you dare! Meet the unsavoury characters form inside the Victorian Prison this October half term, the vile victorians will be sure to give you a fright. Hear ghastly ghost stories and tales of witch trials from the Victorian undertakers themselves. The Spooky Prison is a fun and family friendly introduction into the horrible history of the Victorian Era. Pixie and the Dragon are running children’s cookery workshops at Uncle Henry’s from Wednesday 26th to Friday 28th October.

The workshops will be fun and interactive and focus on using local, seasonal produce to create healthy family meals that everyone can enjoy.
Two workshops a day, one in the morning (10-12 noon) for children aged 4-7 years (that must be accompanied by a parent or carer) and one in the afternoon (1:30-3:30pm) for children aged 8-11 years.

Each workshop costs £16/child

11am to 3pm. Free, Drop-in. Be Active, Get Creative and Feel Inspired at this free event with activities for all ages to enjoy. Have a go on a climbing wall (weather permitting), try out a fun obstacle course, and take part in craft and drawing activities. There will also be a range of information and advice from local community services, and an opportunity to find out more about upcoming events in North Kesteven. Children aged 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult to register for activities.

Spooky Halloween, Tattershall Farm Park

Exotic Animal Encounters will be joining us between 10am-5pm on Saturday 29th for a Spooky Spectacular Animal Encounter session with Spiders, Snakes, Lizards and more!

By popular demand we’re doing Fright Night on the Farm over 2 nights this year, so no-one need miss out. Dress up, join the spooky walk, enjoy the Halloween fun and generally have fun with us on the farm.

Fright Night is from 5.30pm -7.30pm and as well as our awesome scary spooky Farm Walk, activities will include a Halloween Disco in our Play Barn, Wrap the Mummy, Pumpkin Hop, Apple Bobbing and other games.

Prizes for Best Pumpkin (bring your masterpiece, enter the competition and then take it home with you!) and Best Fancy dress.

Halloween Spooky Bus Tour

5pm-6pm Be spooked on Halloween weekend by exploring haunted Lincoln by open-top bus with a local ghost expert.

One of the team from the popular Lincoln Ghost Walks will guide you around Lincoln on Tour Lincoln, the open-top city sightseeing bus, whilst telling spooky tales and stories of Lincoln’s haunted past.

The ghost tours are suitable for all ages but there are no concession tickets available. Seats will be allocated on a first come, first served basis (45 upstairs, 27 downstairs). The tour lasts approximately 50 minutes.

Tickets are available to buy below  Please print off your email receipt as your ticket and bring it with you. Seats are allocated to ticket-holders on a first come, first served basis.
