There’s some family magic locally this Christmas – look no further than the New Theatre Royal and their fantastic pantomime Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

When I was a little girl, going to the pantomime at the Theatre Royal was part of my pre-Christmas build up so I was very excited this year to be able to go and relive old memories by taking my little daughter with me to see her first panto at the same lovely venue… and it didn’t disappoint. The costumes were colourful and the songs were modern – inviting the young ones (me not included) to enjoy a good old sing song. In true panto style there were jokes for children , some funny local references plus a few gags that went over the kids’ heads and straight to an adult sense of humour!576A1375-min-min

There were some great performances by all of the cast – Snow White (Sophie Gaudie) was a hit with my 5 year old and I thought the Wicked Queen (Paige Cook) turned in an amazing vocal performance. The seven dwarfs though stole the show for both of us – great singing and dancing – would have been lovely to see them unmasked at the end too – not just because we knew some of them but also to show children that it could be them another time!

In summary, a great family day or night out – the time flew by and neither of us wanted the show to end.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs continues to run until 6th January so plenty of time to book your slice of family magic this Christmas. There’s also some relaxed performances including one on 23rd December.
