It’s starting to look a lot like Christmas at the Waterside Shopping Centre in Lincoln. The decorations are up, Christmas Carols are playing, and Santa is waiting for you in his Grotto.

Father Christmas and his elves will be in residence from 30th November until 3pm on Christmas Eve.

An audience with Santa costs just £6, with every child receiving a present and parents having the opportunity to purchase additional personalised items. You can book your visit online at or just pop in and see if Santa is free to see you.

There’s always lots of preparation to do in the run-up to Christmas, but thankfully the Waterside has several late-night shopping evenings. It’s open until 7pm on Thursday 5th and Saturday 7th and until 8pm on Friday 6th, 13th and 20th December.

As well as giving you a bit more time to pick up your presents, the centre is also willing to wrap your gifts! The centre has partnered with Allen Signs to raise money for St Barnabas Hospice. Take your gifts to the Wrapping Station, make a donation, and the centre will do the rest! The Wrapping Station is open on 13th and 20th December (11am-3pm/5.30-7.30pm), 14th – 19th December (11am-3pm) and Sunday 21st between 11am and 3pm.

The Giving Tree as part of the Christmas Sacks, is also returning to the centre. If you’d like to provide a present to a child whose family is struggling financially, then please buy a gift, take it to the tree, find the details of who you’d like it to go to on the tags hung from the tree and attach it to your present. You can find the Giving Tree on the lower level until 15th December.

The centre has lots more planned in the run-up to Christmas, so make sure you visit or follow the centre on Facebook (/WatersideShopping) to stay up to date!

The Waterside Shopping Centre has been at the heart of Lincoln’s shopping scene since it was opened by Princess Diana in 1992.

The city centre’s only covered shopping mall, the Waterside is home to a fantastic range of retailers offering something for all the family.

Fashion retailers, H&M, Next, New Look, Topshop Topman, Roman Originals and Yours Clothing sit alongside Lincoln’s only approved Apple reseller Stormfront and telcomms giants O2 and Three. Kids make a bee-line to Smiggle and Claire’s, with everyone taking care of their skin at The Body Shop and Superdrug. You can even pick up your holiday money at No 1 Currency and get a great deal on your home phone, broadband and mobile at Virgin. With Lincoln Watch Clinic, Savers and Games Workshop on the outside of the centre, not to mention Goldsmith’s and the Lincoln City Football Club store, there really is something for everyone at the Waterside.

The Waterside Centre has always been keen to play its part in the wider community, that’s why it is often sponsoring city-centre events such as 2020’s Imps Trail, fundraising for its charity partner St Barnabas Hospice and supporting local independent businesses by staging their regular Artists’ Market and Craft Fair.
